Marketing uses a variety of tools in combination with one another to communicate an organization's message to its desired market. My job is to figure out, in cooperation with my client, which tools are needed for the task at hand--advertising, social and digital media, websites, direct marketing, sponsorship, promotion, and public relations.

Marketing Communications

RAD-Innovations is North America’s adaptive sports and inclusive cycling mobility specialist, Located just outside Middlebury, Vermont, RAD designs, manufactures, sells and distributes the world’s best adaptive bikes and products. My work is primarily focused on raising awareness and generating sales inquiries for a new product, the RAD RaceRunner™ running frame, a mobility device used in the sport of RaceRunning. Through public relations, speaking opportunities, developing partnerships with complementary organizations, and creating a template for club development, RAD is encouraging the growth of RaceRunning in North America.

Project Management

"A Small History of Political Philosophy" is a collection of 38 essays written by Victor Nuovo, Charles A. Dana Professor of Philosophy Emeritus at Middlebury College. Most of the essays previously appeared in the Addison County Independent, a local newspaper serving Middlebury, Vermont and surrounding communities. A friend of Professor Nuovo’s wanted to publish a book of essays as a gift to him. I facilitated the project by hiring a copy editor, book designer, cover artist and publisher and turned the concept of a generous gift into a reality. It is currently used as a textbook in St. Michael's College philosophy courses.

Digital Marketing & Website Upgrades

Launched in late 2018, ExperienceMiddlebury.com is the website for the Better Middlebury Partnership (BMP), a civic organization dedicated to making the greater Middlebury community a better place to live, work and play. My role as digital marketing specialist is to improve the website's design. navigation and overall user experience. As a marketer, I contribute regular columns and social media posts to BMP's Facebook and Instagram accounts.

Association Management

For nearly a decade I worked for the Addison County Chamber of Commerce, initially as Marketing and Communications Director and then as Executive Director. During my tenure as ED, I worked with the Board of Directors to stabilize membership in an era of declining participation in Vermont chambers. We introduced a new strategy for calculating membership investment—value based vs. fair share model—and within three years returned to profitability and increased financial reserves. I was responsible for developing an annual budget, managing staff, as well as all communication channels for membership and tourism which included print publications, website, and social media.
